Maddamasetty Sriramulappayya

Maddamasetty Sriramulappayya was their eldest son. He was educated at Samsthanam High School in Bobbili and successfully completed S.S.L.C. in 1947. He had been helping his father in the Business at Balijipeta. After the demice of his father, he jointly started Tamarind business with Nephew Angajala Jagannadhayya at Salur. He has taken the entire responsibility of the family. He brought up his brothers, married sisters and educated grandchildren to a progressive path. He is very soft, liberal and helpful to the poor. He used to advise in case of conflicts without bias and earned name as "Dharmaraju".

He has married Barigeda Suryakantam, second daughter of Barigeda Narasayya in 1952 at Balijipeta. They had two sons and a daughter. Eldest son is Maddamasetty Rajagopal. Third daughter is Maddamasetty Mangatayaru. Second son Maddamasetty krishna Rao died at the age of 10 years.


Maddamasetty Rajagopal, is familiar with the Accounts of Sri Venkateswara Swamy Devasthanam of Balijipeta, for which his grandfather was the trustee. He is married to Adimulam Vijayalaxmi, daughter of Adimulam Ramana of Jeypore in 1979. They had a daughter Swapna and a son Sandeep. She died of illness. Later Rajagopal is married to Angajala Jamuna Rani daughter of Angajala Koteswara Rao and Rani Shakuntala. Their daughter Swapna is married to Muppidi Srinivasa Rao in 1999. Sandeep is currently working as Mechanical Engineer with Gammon India Ltd. in Himachal Pradesh.

Maddamasetty Mangatayaru has studied Intermediate. She is married to Bandaru Mallikarjuna Rao in 1977. They have two sons Bandaru Kalyan Chakravarthi and Bandaru Phani Chakravarthi. Kalyan Chakravarthi is married to Chy. Bindu Madhavi, only daughter of Angajala Giri. Phani Chakravarthi is recently married.

Brief Introduction

Maddamasetty Jagannadhayya was born to Sri Maddamasetty Narayana Swamy and Venkayyamma at Ganguvari Sigadam of erstwhile Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh. He was their only son. He lost his father at the age of 9 months and shifted to Balijipeta with his mother to their Grandfather Angajala Sriramulappayya. He lived and grown with six of his uncles. He studied at Primary school and trained in family Business of the grandfather. After the demise of his grandfather, he along with his uncles Angajala Krishnayya and Chittappayya, established his business on the name of Madddamasetty Jagannadhayya. They developed this business and took it to a grand scale with head office at Balijipeta and branch offices at Donkinavalasa, Komatipalli and Vizianagaram. He was well versed with the Hindu Epics like Ramayana, Mahabharath and Bhagavadgeeta. His favorite god is Srirama of Bhadrachalam and used recite Rama nama regularly. He takes care of his relatives and trained many of them in business and helped in their education, thereby helping them to establish in high positions.


He was an Indian Freedom activist and follower of Mahatma Gandhi. He participated in many activities during the Independant struggles under Congress pary along with Angajala Gandhi Venkatesam. He was close to V. V. Giri, Kadapa Koti Reddy, Bezawada Gopala Reddy and others. He was host of many of them during their visit in his house.

He was married Chittamma, daughter of Angajala Ranga Jagannadhayya. They had a son and a daughter. Both his wife and children died early. Later he was married to Narayanamma, daughter of Angajala Peda Pedappayya. All the present generation are thier children and grandchildren.

Maddamasetty Jagannadhayya and Narayanamma had 6 sons and 4 daughters. They are : 1. Maddamasetty Sriramulappayya, 2. Maddamasetty Seethayyamma, 3. Maddamasetty Lakshmana, 4. Maddamasetty Bharata Rao, 5. Maddamasetty Savitramma, 6. Maddamasetty Koteswara Rao, 7. Maddamasetty Rani Shakuntala, 8. Maddamasetty Mohana Rao, 9. Maddamasetty Krishna Rao, 10. Maddamasetty Ramadevi
